Getting help

Email support@thetechnocrati.com. A person reads it — there is no ticket robot, no automated first reply, and no menu to work through.

We aim to answer within one business day. If something is actually broken rather than merely annoying, say so in the subject line and it goes to the front.

It helps if you tell us what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. You do not need to diagnose it for us.

Never send us a password. Not your email password, not your Ring password, not your Technocrati one. We will never ask for one, and there is nothing we could do with it that is worth the risk of it sitting in a mailbox. If anyone claiming to be us asks you for a password, it is not us.

Ring cameras

Connecting your cameras

Camera connections start in the Ring app, not in HQ. Find Technocrati HQ in the Ring Appstore, choose which cameras to share, and confirm. Ring then sends you to us to sign in, which is how Ring knows the cameras are being connected to the right person.

You need an active Ring Protect plan or trial for Ring to allow any app access to your devices. That is Ring’s requirement, not ours, and it applies to every partner app.

“This link request has expired”

Ring gives the connection ten minutes from the moment you start it. If you stop partway through, start again from the Ring app rather than reloading the page — a fresh start gets a fresh ten minutes.

“Your Ring connection stopped working”

This almost always means your Ring password changed, or Ring’s access was removed from the Ring app’s own settings. Reconnect from the Ring app and HQ picks up where it left off. Nothing is lost.

Disconnecting

Disconnect Ring in HQ and the keys are destroyed on our server immediately — everywhere at once, not just on the computer you did it from. You can also remove our access from inside the Ring app; both work, and neither touches your footage.

Your account

Forgotten password

Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. Sign-in is handled for us by Auth0, so the reset email comes from them. We do not hold your password and cannot reset it by hand, which is the point — see the Privacy Policy.

Signing in on more than one computer

Sign in on each one. They are independent: signing out of one leaves the others alone.

Deleting your account

Email us from the address on the account and we delete it, its connections and its stored camera events, and we email you to confirm when it is done. The full detail is in Deleting your data.

HQ, the desktop application

HQ runs on Windows. It keeps your email passwords and other credentials on your own machine, encrypted under your Windows account — not on our servers. We cannot read them and cannot recover them for you.

That is a deliberate trade and it has a cost worth knowing about: if you lose the machine, those saved passwords go with it. They are not recoverable from us, because we never had them.

If HQ will not start, or starts without your settings, email us and say what you saw on screen. Do not close the window before you do — a running program in a bad state is far easier to diagnose than a description of one.
